The lower air dam - if you mean the plastic trim panel, as '86 325's didn't have any type of foglight-integrated spoiler - is not a big deal. Something like $125 new from Bav Auto, or much cheaper used. Installation is a snap as long as the holes for the screws are not rusted out.

But $5k for a paint job? Ridiculous. You should be able to find someone to do a professional, top-notch job for less than $2,500. Maybe you can swing by a local European car repair shop and see if they can recommend a good body guy - usually they can.

I am lookin at picking up an '86 325 fot $3000, and it needs the lower air dam. It's plain 325 not an "i" or an "e". Also The car needs paint, the clear coat is peeling. The dealers body shop said $5000 to paint it.. Not gonna happen, Anyone have any tips on doing this??
Thanks, Bill
