There should be two switches. One is a relay for the entire system. When popped up, it has a red ring around the sides. The second is the child safety switch, it's about half the size of the other switches. Both should be mounted in the console, above the window switches. The relay on the left and the child lock on the right. I know this is true for '89 ups, but I'm not sure on '84-'88 models. I do know that on the earlier 2-door cars, the relay was mounted in one of the holes above the radio. I hope this helps! Oh, are you sure the switches in the rear doors are good? You might want to swap in one of the known working ones. Also, I had the same problem on my '91, when the cheapo previous owner replaced one of the cosole mounted rear window switches with a non-illuminated one. Why this affected the door switch, I haven't a clue!
