blacked out trim, need an answer please (archive)

I have just looked into getting my window trim powder coated.

I know this was just discussed a couple of days ago, I just have one question.

as far as i understand, all of the trim is decorative with the exception of the piece that is under the drivers/passengers window on the doors. If this is true, how did you guys manage to do the doors?
