I have been having problems getting started lately and some problems with hesitation. I think that it is the ICU or fuel related. Anyway, after doing a little trouble shooting I went to crank the engine and it wouldn't start but the started kept running even after turning the key to 'off'. I had to disconnect the battery for it to shut off. I checked the starter relay and that didn't help. Ever happen to anyone or does anyone have any suggestions? Could it be the started solonoid? How do I test it? I really don't want to replace a starter along with whatever else is wrong.
Thanks
Joe
this usually happens when the starter is being cranked for long periods of time ,and also when there is a low battery, and bad contact in the solenoid.the 2 contact points will over heat and get stuck thus having the motor continue to turn even after key is removed.I would simply remove the starter and solenid and clean the contacts + the motor.you'll starter will be fine afterwards, but remember if you continue with the long starts, and battery struggles you will have hot spots that will literally spot weld the contacts together.this problem is because of your long starts.be sure to fix that as well.
