I am going to put a small six in my 2002, and my local boneyard has a euro E30 323i fromwhich I might buy the drivetrain. The engine has the side mounted distributor (Mounted in the block) not the Motronic dist on the front of the head, and appears to have L-jetronic fuel injection (electronic, not the earlier k-jet mechanical system). I has a 5-speed overdrive tranny in it. My questions are:
What is the stock horsepower of this engine? Is the 5-speed tranny a getrag 245 like the 320, or is it the one used in the US 325? Does this engine mave integrated fuel/ignition engine management, or is it just plain old L-jet with an independent ignition system? Any solid info would be greatly appreciated.
Colin
