Bought a used 86 325. During some recent work, the battery was unhooked and the radio reset itself to "code". The code given to me by the dealer does not work. Am I missing something??? Do I just punch in the code after turning on the radio or is there a double-secret sequence of events that has to take place here? Also, in case the code is invalid, where would I get the correct one??? Aaaaagggghhh!!!
It's very common for these radios to be a little cranky. You have to input the code slowly and exactly NO MORE THAN THREE TIMES.After three tries, the radio goes into it's anti-theft mode. You now have to leave the ignition key on aux.,so that both key and radio are left on for at least one hour.Lock the car with a second key if necessary. After the hour or more is up,you now get three more tries at a reset. Most radios work fine.I had one that took three hours to finally reset. The only solution there is to curse under your breath alot.I did.
