I ordered new Bosch supers today from Bavarian. Went to every parts store in town and could only find platinum plugs. If the plugs don't do the trick I'll put the OEM chip back in and see what difference it makes. My gut feeling is that it's the plugs. I'll post the results when the plugs arrive, about a week or so.

Aaron.

When I bought my 88 325is a short time ago, I made a few modifications that I thought would enhance the car. I installed 8mm performance wires, Bosch +4 platinum plugs, K&N cone filter(powerflow kit from Bavarian), and a Jim C chip.
My idle is now a bit lower and not steady like it was prior to the replacements. Could this be related to the chip or is it a plug problem? I've heard, after the fact, that platinum plugs are not the best choice for our cars.

The idle fluctuation is not severe, but just enough to make me wonder why..... Any opinions before I go to the store and purchase new "regular" Bosch plugs???
