If you are going to auto-x, you should consider which car is competitive in its class. In SCCA Solo II the E30 325is is competitive in G-stock, but it might be reclassed to D-stock (where it will probably still be competitive.) The E30 325is is also competitive in D-street prepared.

An E36 325is got second in G-stock, but Neal Sapp was driving it. He races for TC Kline in the touring car championship. The Audi 1.8T is in G-stock, but I did not see it listed in the results.

I would think the E30 would have an edge over the E36 because it is quite a bit lighter. This is very important in autocrossing. I bet they are pretty even, though. The 328is is in G-stock, also.

The classifications are going to be changing pretty soon, so keep an eye on them if it is important to you.

what's up? i was wondering about yoru opinions on this car. I have driven an a4 1.8t quattro auto. I used to have an 87 325 until an incident with a deer on Fri 13 happened. I am considering getting an audi A4 or E36. I still want to get an 88/89 325is, but i am a little scared to use the E30's "tossability" on roads where it's handling would shine. I plan on using my futrue car in autox and track. I know that the E30 is a great car, convine me. Please , nothing like" E30's rule, audi's suck!".thanks
