In Reply to: opinions on Audi A4 ? posted by mark on January 27, 2001 at 11:12:19:

what's up? i was wondering about yoru opinions on this car. I have driven an a4 1.8t quattro auto. I used to have an 87 325 until an incident with a deer on Fri 13 happened. I am considering getting an audi A4 or E36. I still want to get an 88/89 325is, but i am a little scared to use the E30's "tossability" on roads where it's handling would shine. I plan on using my futrue car in autox and track. I know that the E30 is a great car, convine me. Please , nothing like" E30's rule, audi's suck!".thanks

I was wondering how an E30 325is, would compare w/ an A4 quattro '99 5 speed,. Most definitely on the track and autox. How is the handling compared w/ the two? i haven't quite pushed an A4 to it's limits, but from what i've heard it understeers a lot. I know my old 325 could get the tail out on request. Is it true that the quattro is really front wheel drive, only sending power to the rear, when the fronts slip? does the quattro really give the A4 an advantage? Probably, most important, which would be more fun? i know that the audi would be way better as a daily driver, but is the fun to drive factor of the older BMW enough to offset that? BTW, i'm not as fearless on mountain roads due to fear of cops and deer. would i probably be better off with the E36 as a compromise? i have driven all three, unfortunately, not at their limits so i don't really know how they are at auto x or track. thanks, any feedback about these cars would be great.
