e30; 318 vs 325 vs M3 (archive)

What the deallio? I am going to buy a 325 or 318 within a month or so. I just need a nother thousand dollars. I know that the 325 has a bigger motor, a V6 in fact as opposed to the 318's 4cyl. Is the M3 motor a V6 or V8? And will it fit in a 325 or 318 engine bay?

SO I guess what I'm asking is; do all he e30 models have the same size chassis, and will I be able to convert a 318 or 325 into an e30 M3.
