first, did you remember to remove the retainer clip? get yourself a good torch, the big ones, and heat the round surface housing(arm)where the bearing is housed.after you heat it for a while it should come out.use good amount of heat and quick.this is what i do ----

use lug bolts as a puller-
1st-put a wrench (1/2" about right)flat against the back and place in two of the lug bolts into place.tighten them both together.then repeat the same thing to the other side.I actually do it all at the same time.this will dismantle it,the bearings will fall off,and you will be left with the inner bearing race on the hub,and the outer bearing race in the arm.Now you may heat these out.the outer one is tricky.get a wet towel and squeeze it in (so the race stays cool.then heat the outside quickly and it should slide right out.((if you take too long you will heat up the race together with the housing and it will not come out.use high heat fast)).I do the same in reversal, but you have to be carefull not to damage the bearing seals.if I were you i would buy the tool for installation, thats where its most usefull.mechanics charge $200 per wheel for this.I think the tool cost $60,but i rigged my way in with that.

Hi,

I'm currently working on replacing my rear wheel bearing on my 325is 88. Yikessssss, I got the axle removed and I'm trying to drive the HUB out from the wheel bearing housing. I'm using a hammer along with the back of soccet to drive it out, what other tools do I need or what technique to get it out. On the Bentley service manual there is no talk of special tools, all what mention is " drive the HUB out from the wheel bearing housing" I hate to put it back together just to have the mechanic do it specially at the point where I'm at. Pls. helpppppppp!

Note: I have given it as hard as I could with the hammer it just won't come out.

Thanks to all
