Yes they're great cars, but it is true you will spend $$$ on it, but only if you want it to be perfect all the time, as will all older cars they'll need some tlc... My advise to you is get a bently repair manual, read it over and try repairing these little problems yourself. I've had 3 bimmers now, and this one has costed me quite few clams, about 6000 in seven months, but it's now in new condition, and hopefully will last me a good dozen years. I don't think I'll ever sell it since convertibles are classic cars in my opinion, I will buy a new SUV by next winter to drive as my daily driver, but I love convertibles, and BMW make one of the nicest ones around... I just bought a 1986 325es and I'm loving it. Couple of little annoyances, but nothing I can't live with: (brake light on dash was lit...mechanic said it was because of aftermarket pads? True? Coolant light on but resevoir is full, and system seems to work fine.)
Anyway, I'm tired of doom-sayers out there warning me what a nightmare I bought into...gonna cost you a fortune, repairs are outrageous, na na na. Thought I'd come here for support, and occassional tech help.
Now, as soon as I get the hood release cable replaced..
