that's how I got my 325is. I bought a whole wrecked 325i for the engine and broke even $$$ wise by parting out the car.

my engine after timing belt failure had 2 broken valves and some cool scarring on the pistons from valve chunks getting stuck in the cylinder.

Assume the worst and maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised when you pull the head.


I saw a eta that logded a valve into the piston, breaking a chunk out of it. Your best bet would be to buy the car, put in a complete used engine, and sell the parts(intake, oil pan, etc) off the old engine to pay for some of your costs, you should come out ahead
