performance exhaust...what kind?! (archive)

Hey. I drive an 87 325is. I am looking to upgrade the exhaust in about a month (after the snow is all done up here in the great white north, aka Canada). I am hoping that you guys can assist me in my purchase decision.

What exhaust is the best for this car? Are there free-flow exhausts available, and are they worth getting? Are headers worth getting for the car? Performance Catalitic, or no catalitic at all?

Please let me know. Any imput is GREATLY appreciated.
