hehe... ok... but to directly answer the question, for our bimmers... manuals are faster off the line ;-)

my former automatic 87 325is was a carlength slower 0-60 than Jay's 87 325is manual. Now that my car's a manual and soon to have a 4.10 diff... that's another story.


Well that depends on the driver. Most Pro dragsters use a heavilly modified automatic. Back when I used (hehe) to race, I have a line lock on the front brakes with an auto. This "locked" the fronts and freed up the rears. Then you could pre-load the rear suspention, and with a release of a button, timed with full throttle, you'rae off... Hard to beat that.
