I have a chance to buy a 1986 325es with 180000 miles. The paint is faded and poor, and there is some rust on the lower fenders. Asking price is $1650. It has a 5 Speed. I Have not driven it yet. What are the weak points of this model. What should I ask the seller?

"e"s are good cars but this one may be near the end of it's road. Be careful. Even if it is well maintained and documented lots will need replacing on a car with this mileage. The eta motor is very solid and last a long time. The redline is low at about 4500 rpm. But, the torque is all there.

Good Luck,

Bob Duckworth
