the bilsteins will be fine, but i would recommend the heavy duties and not the sports unless you want an extremely hard ride. i have the M3 springs with the bilstein HDs on my 1991 325ix and they are very stiff, plenty for spirited driving. only get the sports if you are planning for the track, which i believe is unlikely if you are driving a convertible.

Ive heard that the sports are the same if not softer than the HDs
