I have been running the HDs and e30 M3 set-up for almost seven months now and I have had no problems bottoming out the shocks tto speak of. My tires hit the wheel wells long before the shocks bottom out, so I don't know how the internal bump stops could have a part in your friend's "speed bump" test.

The HDs are the moderate of the two, the Sports are the stiffer, according to Bilstein.

You can't lose, enjoy your new ride.
