Whatever you do, don't try to turn the wipers on intermittent and hold them in one place! I used this technique back in december and last month my wipers just died on me.

The problem is that when you hold the wipers in one place, the motor continues to turn and strips the nut that is used to hold the transmission arm onto the motor.

Unfortunately, you will have to take off the cowl and get to the motor. Buy yourself a couple of self locking nuts (I can't recall the size for now), and unscrew the nut holding the linkage to the motor. A really small, flat ratchet (or speed wrench) will speed things up a lot. You won't be able to see much under the motor. I used a mirror to locate the nut and replaced it. Make sure you tighten it enough, otherwise you'll have the same problem down the road.

Also look at the nut that you take off. My guess is some of it's threads are stripped and the motor is just turning a bit before it gets locked into the threads.

Hope this helps,

Omer.

P.S. You will have to experiment a bit as to where the best position is for the linkage to be tightened. Make sure the wipers can wipe the whole windshield.
