You should find that there is an instruction card in the pocket in the driver's side sun visor. If not, follow these steps while standing outside the driver's side of the car (make sure the windows are all down first). First lift the front edge of the roof so get enough slack to be able to lift the rear edge of the roof to vertical. This will give you clearance for the tonneau cover (boot lid). Then pull the door handle that is located in the driver's side rear (beside the rear speaker). The tonneau cover should now pop up about 3/4". Put your finger under the inside edge of the tonneau cover just at the front and slide it towards the rear of the car. You should feel a spring loaded safety catch. If you push that to the rear, the tonneau cover will release. If it won't stay up once you lift it, you may need new struts. I got mine from Bavarian Auto.

Good luck. They're great cars!

I just got an '87 325ic with a manual top. I got a deal on it at an auction. The only thing is, i can't get the top down. It seems to go back okay, but I can't get the boot lid open. Is there some trick I'm missing here? (I dont have a manual).

Thanks in advance.
