hub-centric wheels are machined on the back of the wheel hub so that they nest firmly to the axle hub...in this way, your auto is not solely reliant upon the lug nuts to keep the wheel concentric to the axle...

altering offset affects suspension & steering geometry, & suspension stress & wear...
