The E30 BMWs (not M3 or iX) have a 4-bolt pattern with 100mm between the bolt centers.

The offset should be between about 40mm (for a 6" wide wheel) and 20mm (for a 7.5" wide wheel). These numbers are approximate; someone may be able to provide more exact numbers.

If you have the wrong offset, your wheels will stick out too much, or will rub against your inside fenderwells.

I don't know how to tell if a wheel will fit hub-centric on a BMW just by looking at it.
