New 325i test driven (archive)

A friend has just test driven a new 325i sport and noticed the following things. The front suspension appears to make a clunking noise over bumps, could this just mean the bushes need replacing?
Also the fault (indicator board) above rear view mirror did not appear to light up at all upon startup of the engine? Can these be replaced or could it be something more sinister?

I have the same car, but am a bit of a novice on these things!
