The Motec system is recognised as one of the best race car engine management systems in the world. It uses a crank position sensor for reference, a cam position sensor for sync and in the form we are using it has intake air temp, water temp, throttle position and MAP sensor. The system is progammable via a laptop and it also stores information during engine running time for later download and analysis. It activates a twin coil pack with one wasted spark per plug firing and operates the injectors sequentially rather than in pairs as the Motronic does. It provides great tuning possibilities as the main functions (ignition timing and injector duration) are almost infinitely variable.

And the carbon fibre intake system, I'll let the photos tell the story!!

Hi all

We're approaching the end of the process of converting our E30 race car from a supercharged M50 to a screaming 2.0L S14. Many of the internals came from the spares package of the 1992 Australian Group A Touring Car championship winning team - billett crank & rods, lightweight pistons, rings, etc.. Head has a mega port job and the cams are around 292. Induction is via Evo 3 carbon fibre intake/airbox and engine management is by Motec M4. Tranny is Getrag dog leg CR and the diff is LSD with 5.1 gearset. You guys & gals want me to post some photos?? I'll be getting the motor back tommorrow so they would be available in around a week......

I would be interested in the power output? I would love to build a monster 2.5ltr s-14 with 250+ rearwheel hp!! can you explain how the motec and carbon intake work, and how effective is it compared to stock motronics?
