hello,
okay, how about this... on the 4 door cars, there are bigger gaps in the body, so, the B-pillar and C-pillar need to be stronger to make up for it. what about that logic? the frame around the back doors would need to be reinforced...

Think about it. Without an extra opening on your rear fenders, 2- door should be more rigid. I may be wrong.
