I have an 86 325es and just ordered a pare of control arm bushings for it is this something I can replace myself
without any special tools??

Not really, I replaced mine on an '86 325i and it is not all that difficult to get the lower control arm off (remove the bushing with it), but then I had to use a press to get the old bushing off and to press the new one on. If you do find a press to use make sure you note the angle that the old bushing is pressed on at before you remove it so you can position the new one the same way. You won't be able to rotate it once it is on the shaft and you don't want to keep pressing it on and off. Hope this helps!
