probably wheel bearings... maybe diff bearings too... it was the diff in my 528 and the wheel bearings in the 325is... wheel bearings are cheaper
You seem to be pretty helpful on this message board. I appreciate that as do many others I'm sure. I just successfully replaced the timing belt, water pump, accessory drive belts and the tensioner myself and it was nice to get advice from BMW veterans. Keep up the good work!

I am hearing a rear wheel hissing/whirring sound when I drive. I suspect the wheel bearings are going bad but what about the parking break shoes, could it be them? 91 325iC
