After my son's 325 was involved in a minor front end accident last week-the other idiot turned in front of him-there is a shudder from the drivetrain when accelerating quickly from a start.I think it may be the driveshaft center support. The hit damaged the bumper, radiator and right fender. The other guy's insurance adjustor (they're paying)is trying to tell me that because he sees no driveshaft damage, there is no way that this is accident related. They are trying to tell me it is from fatigue-even though I told the adjustor the shudder was not there before the accident.Total damage (including new radiator, headlights and foglamps)to the '86 325 was $1850.
I'm having the car inspected by my mechanic tomorrow.
Any ideas?

It's possible the impact damaged the engine
mounts and/or the tranny mounts which could have
caused a slight mis-alignment of the drivtrain.
Also, the support for the center bearing is soft
metal and bends very easily, it's possible this
got tweeked in the accident and would throw the
driveshaft out of alignment. I'd check the
integrity of all the mounts thorougly.
