have had to get codes for both my e-30's. the only place to get the codes is from the dealer. first time they wanted a xerox copy of my car registration, my drivers lisence and the stereo vin #. the second time they didn't require any proof of ownership. if you do it your self, it should be free info, but if the dealer has to pull the stereo expect to pay $25-50 for the code.
