I am thinking of swapping a diff from an 88 ix to a 87 325is. Anyone have good results with this? I am using 17" wheels. thanks alot

I don't believe the 325iX diff would be a straight
bolt-on to the 325is. The halfshafts supposedly
aren't compatible so maybe the problem is with
the drive flanges. You should check further
and seek info on doing such a swap. I don't
know the details, but i keep hearing the
axles aren't interchangeable so i assume the
problem is at the diff end since the trailing
arms and hubs are the same on both cars.

I'm curious why you'd want a 325iX diff - is it
just for the lower ratio or are you intending to
make your car legal for the SCCA Street Touring
class? (the iX diff is a viscous type).
