I was on I77 coming home from work yesterday and only about a mile and a half from my exit when I pulled up next to a Ford Thunderbrid SC. I was in the passing lane driving about 75-80. The Ford was the only car between me and my exit ramp, so I was just going to casually pass him and then get over for the turn. Well, as soon as I began to drive past the guy he started speeding up. I thought he was inching up by mistake at first, so I depressed the throttle some more to let him know I was passing for sure. Sure enough he stomped on it to keep me from going by....so my "caveman mentality" kicked in at 90 mph and I dropped it into 4th and slammed the accellerator to the floor. I figured that supercharged v6 would just whip right by, but to my surprise I began to pull away! I didn't leave him in the dust or anything, but it was evident that I had the superior automobile. So now, like any red-blooded American caveman, I got pissed off because the SOB almost made me miss my exit. I turned over to the right lane, slowed down to about 105 mph, let him pull up on my ass and I gave him a good old fashion "brake check". You should have seen the look on his eyes and the stiffness in his arms as he slammed on the brakes! Granted I only saw this for a second or so in my rear view mirror, but it was a priceless mental picture. I slowed for my ramp, turned off, looked over at him as he passed by, and gave him the look of "hey bud, what the hell do you think your doin?" He and his friend just looked at me with disgust and drove on. This is not the way to act on the interstate, I know... Especially in this day and age of brutal road rage etc. Honestly, I was just surprised that I easily walked by a supercharged 6 cyl. Hope you guys don't bash me for drag racing....I just wanted to chalk-one-up for the old E30 bimmers and let you all know about it.
