Having lived in the I-77 corridor for 5 years I can explain why you were able to out run this Tunderbird. See, these cars have always been the car-of-choice for moonshiners because of their larger frame and length from the back of the front seat to the rear of the frame. The extra large trunk provides for the installation of a 200 gallon auxillary tank that can be hidden by a "cheater bottom". Being as "shine" weighs around 7lbs per gallon....that equates to around 1400 extra pounds, so he was totin-a-load. Let ol' Bubba meet up with you dry and he's probably gonna blow our doors plum off.

Of course I could be wrong.
