James, I dont know what youve done so far to remedy the problem, but id change the thermostat...not too tough to do.
Also how do you know it's running hot, if your gauge says so it may be faulty and your coolant system could be solid. Running a coolant flush might help, your radiator may be clogged. Also an old water pump can cause overheating. If youve already tried all of this...sorry maybe its time for the pros to take a look at her $$$$$$
