Planned to replace my fuel filter today. Haynes recommends depressurizing the fuel system: pull the fuel pump fuse, wait for the car to stall, pop the gas cap, disconnect the battery, and go. Then I found an interesting thing. My #11 fuse, which is supposed to be the fuel pump, is a 15 amp fuse. Supposed to be 7.5. Should I be concerned?
Old adage: if it ain't broke, don't fix it?
While I'm here, have any of you out there done the depressurize deal when replacing the fuel filter? Do you think it's necessary?

Just last week replaced fuel filter on my 84 319i; I just opened the fuel filler cap and went from there; bascially when I got the filter un-hooked from the hose there was not pressure to speak of; of course, the filter was full of fuel. Based on my experience; I'd say don't sweat the "de-pressurization".
You fuse; I'd try the spec'd 7.5 amp; if it works, fine; if not, then go to maybe 10amp. Someone before you either wasn't paying attention or did it for a reason...i.e., the pump was overlaoding the circuit and blowing the 7.5 amp fuse....which would indicate trouble w/fuel pump (or other components if they are on same circuit).
Hope this helps / Regards / Bill
