Old e30 vs. New e30, What's the Difference? (archive)

I know about the bumpers (and that early 88's have the newer body, but retained the old bumpers), but what else, I need a comprehensive list of the differences. Is the actual sheet metal different? How? Can you put the newer tail lights on the older e30's? ETC. I'm trying to decide how important it is to get a Post-87 e30.
