Beyond the bumpers, these are some of the major differences (not all-inclusive, I'm sure):

Sheet metal: post-'87 models have different rear quarter panels. Later models have a slightly smaller, lower wheel opening and different rear panel to accommodate the newer tail light lenses. As such, the later lenses will not fit the '84-'87 rear panel.

If you'll do a search, Randy Walters posted a comprehensive list of differences among the varous years on this board a week or two ago, encompassing body, interior, equipment and other differences among the years. It seemed pretty complete.
