I have a 325is with the premium sound- 4 woofers, 4 tweeters. I am wondering about doing a few simple upgrades and have a few questions. I am not rewiring the car or anything like that.

1. How many watts is the stock amp (located near the antenna)? Who made it? I assume it is 4 channel?

2. What is the frequency response range of the speakers?

3. Where are the crossovers? Is that handled by the extra stuff attached to the woofers?

4. Has anyone simply replaced the speakers, but still used the stock head unit and amp? Did the sound quality increase or decrease? I am thinking of replacing my rear deck speakers w/ aftermarket 5.25s and not using the tweeters (fronts would remain).

6. I have the head unit from 87. Can the later unit (90-91) be plugged into my car w/o modification to the wiring?

7. Does anyone have said head unit, with working display and code, that they wish to part with?

8. Are there any websites which deal with this system in detail?

Thank you very much.

Mike
