By OBC do you mean the mileage, average mpg, etc functions? I believe all North American cars were equipped with the digital OBC that showed the date, time and the temp. The extended OBC, with the mileage, average mpg, etc were an option on the E30. They were standard on top models, i.e. 325es, 325is, 318is and I think the 91 325i (last year of the E30 sedan).

If by not having an OBC you mean you have an analog clock that does sound strange. The analogs came on atleast some base European E30s, but I haven't heard of any in N.America. If you have the analog clock it might have something to do with the fact that you live in Hawaii (??).
