I replaced my SI battries and now my temp gague only goes when you first turn the ignition on and then drops when you start the car!!

If all other gauges working properly; likely the Temp gauge is defective. Did you by chance check for good electrical connections (gauge to main PCB)at the time you did the battery swap?...if not, could be poor connection here. Other possiblity is the temp "sender" unit is defective; perhaps the more likely cause.
