I know convertibles aren't as sturdy as regular body styled cars hence leading to some twist and flexing but just how much should I feel

A bunch - I almost bought a new Sebring (please no flames, I fought the urge ;) except for the really excessive shaking and body flex. I thought the dashboard was going to fall off. My '91 325i Conv is vastly more solid. How are your door seals and rubber?

It seems worse with the top up because the top, not being a structural piece, can shake as badly as anything else on the car. Add to that it is not lined so there is no noise protection and you end up with a rather loud car.

I find it most quiet top down, windows up.
