CW, I did this recently and 1 by 1 is fine since you have good torque on the existing bolts. Get the bentley manual and look at the sequence for torquing the bolts and go in the opposite order. Remove 1 and then blow out the hole with compressed air to expel any oil that may leak down there. Then put on your knew torx bolt with washer. Give it the full torque and angle. Doing this one by one will not really upset the head gasket since there are 14 bolts holding it in place and you are just removing 1 at a time.I am not sure which socket I bought, but it was easy to get at Car Parts and the fit is obvious.
The hole process takes about 45 minutes. Good luck.
Can you guys tell me about what size & type tool to use for this head bolt update. They appear to be Torx about 14 or 16.
I think a 11 mm 12-point socket fits very snugly for the 22 ft-lbs required.
Have any of you used the 12-point socket for these bolts heads.
Also, when replacing 1 by 1 at a time does it mater about the sequence of bolt replacement since pre-load exists?
As always thanks for the advice,
CW
