They used a rigid bodycage around the passenger compartment with a seperate layout for the engine and the trunk.

As for the options it depends what kind of e30 you get. 325's were stripped but the 325e's came with a lot of toys. The 325, 325e, and the 325es all came with a slower economy engine but anything with an "i" after the 325 was a quick puppy. The 325is's came with the most toys of all but keep in mind the parts are intechangeable so you could put 325is options into a standard 325

Then there is the beloved M3, good luck finding one of those.
