Engine speed sensor is on flywheel housing. Measures rpm of the flywheel.

If this switch is gone crazy you should have severs problems with your enging as info is used by motronic. I think your problem is insode the instrument cluster.



I think I have a problem with the tach speed sensor but I can not find any info on it for the 318i-1985 in any of the books. The computer relies on the speed input as does the auto tranny and the Tach but where is it???? I know where they are on my 325 but where is it on the 318i? Does it use the same input from the pulse generator on the distributor?? HELP PLEASE!! My tach is all over the place and doesn't match the engine speed.
