Just for the record....Bentley's 3-Series (pages 28-29 of Section 1) specifically say "The cars covered by this manual can be towed either flat, on all four wheels, or by a tow truck...". Automatic transmissions w/rear wheels on the ground are limited to 30 miles and no more than 30mph & add 1 more quart of ATF (reduce the 1 quart before driving). "There are no speed or distance restrictions when towing a car with a manual transmission, provided the lubricant is filled to the correct level"....most consider Bentley to be the definitive source.

As a precaution, I have Redline fluids in the rearend and transmission - up to the proper level.
