I once saw a mechanic loosen it with an air chisel. Had someone hold the fan belt a bit, and touched the chisel to the tip of on of the nut sides, and BZZZZT! It came right off.

What you are dealing with is a common problem. Since the fan is reverse threaded, there really isn't any reason to tighten it up. It always runs in reverse!

The best way to tighten it, especially on an E-30, where there is very little room to work, is simply get it on the thread, and turn the car on. The motor action will thread it right up, and you're done!
