I replaced the rear wheel on my 1990 525i which should be pretty similar to the e30. Rather than pay a shop $250 a side to replace the bearing I removed the trailing arm and had a machine shop do it for $50. Before re-assembly hey also cleaned all the parts to the point I didnt recognize them.
