I have had a terriably frustrating problem with my only car. I haven't been able to drive it for 3 weeks because I mailed the ECU to a mechanic to test and have yet to see it come back..:( I have replaced just replaced the following spark plugs and wires, distributor cap and rotor, and coil. The problem: Car won't restart and the motor is hot. I went to pick up my son and turned the car and it wouldn't restart. Came back 4 hours later, started right up. It does this every time I drive it. The mechanic says it is probably the ECU cause the car isn't getting spark. I did take the plugs out when it wasn't starting and check. No spark on any the plugs. Is the ECU really the problem here. Why will it start when cold and not when hot, could it be a temperature sensor or something, why would the darn computer not let the thing spark? Thanks for any help I am getting tired of biking to work.

Thanks for response. It turns over foverever, well until the battery dies. By relays what do you mean, like the wiring harness from the coil to the ECU or what. I am new to this BMW stuff and am getting a not so great taste about these cars. This car has been doing this since I picked it up month and half ago. And the previous owner had no problems. mmmm
