I owned a 98 E36 M3/4 - it was totalled and I got A 91 318is unitil the new E46 M3 gets here(on the boat now) - anyways , I regularly autocross both - on tight autocross courses they are very close- the times I got in both have been consistantly placed within others in the club. With both cars, I consistanly got times that would place me in 3 or 4th in M-stock class! Both are/were in stock run group - the 318is is a great car - I'll probalbly keep it and plan to run it side by side with the E46 M3 when I get a chance.

M3 had upper and lower braces and mich mxx3.
318is has bilsteiin sports, stock springs, and yokohama AVS intermediate.
