Bad news, sounds like the head gasket. My car has a similar problem, not so severe but will require attention soon. Get a mechanic to look at it, but if it is the head gasket it will cost $$$. I had to replace the head gasket on my old 325is and it cost over $1000. d'oh.

I have an oil leak on the passenger side of my 1989 325i. This is a pretty good leak! It is not the oil cooler adapter or the oil pressure switch. It appears (as far as I can see) to be between the head & block at the front of the engine (number 1). Any idea what this could be? I've already checked the valve cover gasket & the rubber plugs & they are OK. Cam seal maybe? Anyone had a problem with head gasket leaking at this spot (hope its not the head gasket)? Is it possible to re-torque the head bolts, and if so, what would the procedure be?

Thanks
Mike
