manifold pressure sensor? (archive)

Something's missing from the inside of my air filter box...there's an electrical connection, but no 'module' that the elec connects to. One mechanic that worked on my car said he thought it was a manifold pressure sensor. What am I missing, and how might it affect performance? 1986 325es. I can't find a parts listing at Zygmunt or oemparts. Please help and TIA.
